Max Factor Skin Luminizer Foundation + Eye Luminizer Review

Hello beauties,

It's all about dewy skin recently and I am on the hunt to find the perfect dewy foundtion. I've been testing out two new products from Max Factor, the Skin Luminizer Foundation and the Eye Luminizer, for quite some time and here are my thoughts...

The Skin Luminizer foundation is infused with subtle luminizing particles that instantly capture light and illuminate the skin. On the other hand, the Eye Luminizer claims to hydrate and brighten up the under-eye, resulting in a healthy-looking glow that perfectly balances coverage and radiance.
Packaging:

First, let's talk about the packaging, which is something I really appreciate with this duo in particular. The bottles that the foundation and eye brightener come in are made of plastic. Why is that good you ask? Because I constantly live in fear that a glass bottle of foundation will fall off my vanity and shatter into pieces or worse...break in my purse! The bottle has fall down twice and it is still intact, phew.

Second, both bottles come with pumps, and great ones too! It is really easy to control how much foundation or eye brightener you want to come out.

Max Factor Skin Luminizer Foundation:
You would think that this foundation would be liquid-y since it is supposed to give you dewy skin, but on the contrary, the foundation comes out of the pump thick and it does not move around. However, as soon as you work it into the skin, it melts and becomes just like a liquid foundation.

Just a heads up before you use this foundation, the Skin Luminizer Foundation really hates dry skin so exfoliate and moisturize your skin really well the night before or else you will have this foundation accentuate every single dry patch on your face. It happened to me the first time I used it when my skin was really dry.

This foundation can be applied using a beauty blender or a brush, it works well both ways. It has a light coverage and can be built up to medium coverage. Also, acne will still show through so you will have to spot conceal. I did not powder my face after using this foundation so it lasted up to 6 hours before it started to fade.

If you dislike BBcreams and tinted moisturizers but you still want something light for days when you are rushing out the door then this foundation is for you. It gives a beautiful glow to the face and you can seriously get away with only using a little bit on the face.
I have the shade Crystal Beige which is a shade darker than my skin tone but I can get away with it because it has an amazing yellow base that covers all my redness, and I LOVE that!
Max Factor Eye Luminizer Brightener:
This is a new concept to me because I was not really sure what an eye brightener is. Is it a concealer or is it a highlighter?

I used it both under my eyes to cover discolouration and on the highest points of the cheeks to highlight. Now, even though the shade I have is fair/light, the Eye Luminizer was quite dark so it didnt work for highlighting the face but it did work for covering the discolouration.
The Eye Luminizer has a mousse-y feel. Don't expect it to cover extremely dark circles but it does brighten up the under eye area pretty well. I applied it with my fingers and dabbed it in the areas that I wanted to cover.

Again, I really loved this stuff for days where I don't have time to do my makeup and I just want my skin to look healthy.

If you are just starting to experiment with makeup, give this stuff a try. It is very easy to use, it is affordable and good to practice with.
You can find Max Factor at Centrepoint and different beauty stores across UAE.

Hope you enjoyed this post!

  1. Thanks!! I was wondering the same thing about the iluminizer. I want a concealer and a highlighter, so I might try using it in both ways.

  3. Hello, very helpful post, thanks! I ended up on your blog as I was looking around for what shade I would need in this foundation. I tested this in the store in 40 ivory only, and it seemed ok on my hand, but hard to tell if on the face it wouldn't be a bit too dark. So...back to you. If 33 crystal beige is a bit dark and yellow for you, what shade are you? Maybe you can tell me in mac colour and revlon colour stay? I didn't try too many foundations and I hardly found my match. Revlon 150 buff was my closest match so far, but I may need it a tad lighter too.

    1. Hey Alexandra, Revlon 150 buff is the closest match for me as well. I never went back to check my actual shade in the store. I'll pass by this weekend and I will get back to you :)

  4. I bought these today and unfortunately I had an allergic reaction to the undereye illuminizor. I have sensitive skin and I reacted badly to it. However before the reaction kicked in, the product did work in brightening up my eyes, so it is worth a try. Just be careful of you have sensitive skin.
