How to Depot Eyeshadows

What you need:
  • Single Eyeshadows
  • Empty Palette (I will be using a Z Palette)
  • Magnet Stickers (Included in the Z Palette)
  • Hair Straightener
  • Cookie Sheets
  • Knife or any sharp object
  • Rubbing Alcohol
  • Ear buds

Step 1: Place a cookie sheet on one side of the hair straightener then turn it on and leave it to heat up.

Step 2: I'll be depotting NYX eyeshadows. NYX eyeshadows, like MAC eyeshadows and many more, have a small gap right where the knife is placed in the above picture.

You want to place the tip of the knife in the gap and push upwards until the eyeshadow cap pops off.

Step 3: Place the eyeshadow on the hair iron and leave it for 2-3 minutes. The glue inside the plastic will start to melt but the cookie sheet will protect your hair straightener from the melting plastic.

Step 4: After 2-3 minutes, remove the cap and place it upside down on a flat surface. Poke the bottom with the knife.

The glue would have loosened up by now so the eyeshadow will fall out easily. It will be hot so give it another minute to cool down.

Step 5: Using 70% rubbing alcohol and an ear bud, remove the glue residue on the base of the eyeshadow.

Step 6: Place the sticker magnet on the bottom of the eyeshadow after removing the glue.

Step 7: I placed the eyeshadow back into its original case temporarily so that I do not mix up the eyeshadows name. I then labelled each eyeshadow. You can skip this step if you are not interested in knowing the eyeshadow's name or code.

Step 8: Place it into the palette and voilĂ ! You now have more space for the rest of your makeup (or new makeup up *wink wink*), and a new palette!
